The top of the mesa, reached by an easy drive, is a spectacular spot for sunset-viewing. Soldier Pass Trail, one mile from the hotel, provides access to rock pools and the Devil's Kitchen sinkhole. At Slide Rock State Park, eight miles away, visitors can slide down a natural water chute. The West Fork Trail, about a mile past the park, is a leafy hike with numerous creek crossings and close-up views of the sheer canyon walls.
